What Awaits Ahead

Mission: Mission 1 - Angstrom Operation

The Away Team was gathered in the shuttle bay, waiting to go. Deck hands made their final preparations while a Type 11 was made available to the crews. Larisna felt the need to see them off, so she approached the crew while they were loading their things onto the shuttle.
"I know we've only found more questions than answers with the scans. But hopefully you will be able to shed some light once you arrive there." Larisna said, "We'll maintain orbit and keep tabs on you all, so you're not going in alone. Locate any of the team you can, and salvage the database. Their lives are important, but we also want to make sure whatever happened to them does not go in vain."
Steven doubled checked he had everything. He was so excited to be finally going on an away team. Standing with his new fellow crew mates in the shuttle bay. Edgware had heard why they were going. So he was mentally prepared for anything.
E'Lor was finishing the packing of the packs and equipment when another engineer handed her a PADD, "This is all sir, boss any idea what we'll find once we get there?" he said.
"Probably hell if I know whether or not we're going to find anything at all" she said. E'Lor did not like surprises and this little jaunt may just prove to hold a few of them.
"Alright then lets do a safety and telemetry test everyone seal up your suits I want to make sure that are aligned to our bodies..." Lt Malloy said.
Reazat came up as everyone was getting ready. She Sealed up her suit and stood by. As she was waiting she looked at the CO and smiled, "Bet you wish you was coming along Captain."
Amanda checked Reazat's EV suit, made sure the telemetry was sync'd up to her bio-metrics.
Although he had been trained in EVA usage. Steven did not have that much. Experience using an EVA suit. He knew what to do with one. Steven understood if it did not flash red all was well.
The suit was fitted with a wrist control panel. On the other it had a tricorder. Which Steve checked over a few times. Once he was sure everything was working. He turned to the others.
“ Anyone need any help? “ he asked
Reazat smile, " I am good. double check yours and make sure. That suit is all that will be protecting you. Team up in pairs and check each other out."
Steven looked towards the others. But they all seemed to be ignoring him. He looked back at the Commander.
“ Sorry sir. It would seem everyone is all paired up.” Steven said sadly,
"Here Mr Egdeware We can check each other." Amanda said.
Lt Malloy looked over Steve's his suit raised his CO2 level just a bit and made sure his bio-metric sensors were online and operating.
"Now check mine please." Amanda asked.
Steven felt his face flush as another member of the team came over.It was possible they were not ignoring him. But just had not heard him properly. He must remember to shout.
Lieutenant Malloy. Checked his suit and made some adjustments. Then Steven checked hers.
“ Everything seems in order ma’am. Although your CO2 level is a little high. Do you wish me to adjust it for you?” He asked her.
"That would be great thanks!!" Amanda said.
"Maybe. But someone has to stay on the ship. Bear in mind that the Romulans may still arrive, so be careful, but don't linger. Some of them rattle the proverbial saber like the bad old days, but others are getting more and more aggressive." Larisna warned.
As Steven adjusted Amanda’s suit. He heard Commander Koralova speaking. Did this mean he would have to stay behind? Steven had really been looking forward. To going on the away team. Now it looked like his excitement was all for nothing.
“ Your suits set. You don’t think the Commander is going to make stay behind, do you? Only I was really looking forward to going on this mission. “ He quietly told Amanda.
"Only if you're looking for a reason to not go, Mister Edgeware." Larisna said with a grin, "That responsibility is mine. Hence why I'm not in an EV suit like the rest of you."
"Are we about ready then, lets get this show on the road". Amanda said.
Ok Load up and let's go.
E'Lor and her partner picked up their gear and stepped into the shuttle and stowed their gear, found seats and sat waiting for the rest to load up.
Steven picked up his equipment and strode towards the shuttle. He did not quite understand why they were suited up now. Surely they could of sealed their helmets.Once the shuttle had reached its landing site. But he was the newbie here. So Steven did as he was told.
Jedre looked around the area, and saw someone pick up something and followed him to the shuttle to see if he's ok after putting the box on the shuttle, She needed something to do.
Steven turnaround and spoke to Jedre.
“ Hello my names Steven. Pleased to meet you. This is all very exciting isn’t it.” He told them smiling
Amanda loaded her stuff on the shuttle and buckled herself into her seat.
Steven looked disappointed. So with his head bowed he took his seat and sat down.
"Is there something wrong Mr. Edgewear"? Amanda asked.
Steven looked up.
“ Sorry did not mean to be annoying. This is my first away team. Did not really get much of a chance on the Ranger.” Steven explained.
"Stick with me you'll be just fine." Maia said.
Steven smiled at Maia. It was good to have someone watching your back. But at the back of his mind he kept thinking. About the nearly fatal accident on the Ranger. That was the cause for him being here now.
If someone had been watching his back then. They would of warned him about the missing turbo lift car. Then again maybe someone had been watching? Why would anyone want Edgeware dead. Unless to step over his flattened body and take the CSO job.
No. He had to dispel these thoughts. He was on the Hornet now.
“ Thanks “ He told Maia.
"Take care over there. And good luck. Lieutenant Malloy, you're on point." Larisna said with a final wave, before turning and heading for the door. She had to be back on the Bridge.
"Aye Captain" Amanda replied.
