Freedom! Finally Cara had been let out of his travel basket. Now the small dog was free to get back at his mistress. As she tried to pick the Chihuahua up he turned and nipped her finger!
“ Ouch! Why yer wee ungreatful beastie! If it be War yer want it be War you’ll get” Penny said sucking her finger.
She did not hear the door chime. But as Cara was escaping her hands the small nipping machine. Tapped the door opening mechanism making it swoosh open.
Penny rugby tackled the tiny trouble maker. Holding it’s tiny body to the ground. Sensing a stranger was now watching them. The Chihuahua began yelping.
Before the door had even finished opening, Draesni caught sight of the odd scuffle taking place just inside. It was not what he had expected to find when making a visit to the Hornet‘s chief science officer. And yet, as he took in the scene that played out in front of him, he couldn’t help feeling as if this were on par for her. “Lieutenant McTaggart, I presume,” he said, maintaining his position at the threshold, “If this is a bad time…”
Penny looked up as Cara struggled to free himself. If his snout had been longer he would of been able to bite her. But due to his features being small. This stopped him but also enraged him.
“ Oh no. Sorry just trying to get my wee doggie settled. How can I help you?” She asked
"Lieutenant Commander Draesni," the Rigelian said, offering an introduction, "chief strategic operations officer." As he spoke, he realized that his standing in the doorway was keeping open the possibility of an escape, so he took a step into the room and allowed the doors to close behind him. "I was hoping to talk to you about use of lab space," Draesni continued, "specifically astrometrics."
Penny wondered what to say. She was new to the Hornet should she say no and get a reputation for being difficult? Or say yes and have every department wanting a piece of the science lab?
“ May I ask what for if you please?” Penny replied
Draesni smiled. It was exactly the kind of question he would have asked, had he been in her position, and he had come prepared to answer it. “Strategic operations deals largely with the big picture of things,” he told her, “and I’ve found there are times when one just needs a big place to take it all in. They’ve given me an office, of course, but the displays there can only go so far.”
Penny considered this.
“ So basically you need the Astro labs larger monitors and Holo display really. Please feel free to use whatever you need. Just so long as it does not impede on any science projects or operations and no barring science personnel from any areas.” She said. “ I really mean this. My staff must have full access or we will have very strong words.”
"Thank you, lieutenant," Draesni said.
“ That is ok. Anything to help of course. If there is anything extra you need. Please don’t hesitate to ask. I can always help out if you need me.” She said
