Arrival: Alameda

Posted on Sat Oct 30, 2021 @ 6:17pm by Lieutenant Jaro Antos & Lieutenant Rei Yamashi & Lieutenant Penny Mc Taggard & Captain Larisna Koralova

Mission: Mission 1R - Vigilance Be Our Shield
Location: USS Alameda - Gorn/Klingon Conflict Zone
Timeline: M1D3 - 1005 Hours

Since leaving the Bridge, Antos had made a quick stop in his office to pick up a padd to quickly refresh himself on the technical specifications of a California-class starship. He was now entering Transporter Room Three, which was the rendezvous point with the Away Team.

A specialist, at his request, handed him a tricorder and phaser, which he outfitted on his person. He doubted (or at least hoped) he would not need the phaser.

He perused more of the contents of his padd as he patiently waited for the rest of the Away Team members.

Penny searched round the science department for all the equipment she thought would be needed. Once she had everything loaded. She picked up her shoulder case.

oO Is there anything else?Oo She thought.

Shaking her head she shouldered the case. Then walked towards the transporter room.

Rei was the next one to enter the transporter room to await transit. The mood in the room seemed to shift as she padded her way in, bringing an air of business, an air of professionalism. PaDD under her arm, hair and fur kept and in place, ears at half-bobble. She gave Antos a nod as she entered, and then paused. "What's ... that?" she motioned to the phaser on his hip. "We're going FROM a Federation ship TO a Federation ship. Where's the threat, if I might ask?"

She paused to give him a chance to respond, her own hip devoid of such armament.

Antos looked at the phaser holstered at his hip and back at the Lieutenant. "We are beaming to a Starfleet vessel that has sustained significant damage and casualties and we presently don't know the cause," he replied. "We also have a Gorn and Klingon ship in the immediate area whose actions may or may not have led to the aforementioned damage and casualties. Until we have determined the cause of the damage to the Alameda I thought it prudent to prepare for all possibilities."

He paused knowing that per the Captain's orders, he was not in command of this Away Team. "However Lieutenant, as you are in command, I defer to your decision on carrying the phaser."

Penny entered the transporter room next. She gave everyone a nod.

“Hello everyone.” She said.

Penny's quiet entry broke the moment, and Rei looked over to the science chief. "Good afternoon, I trust we're all set to go." and she gave Antos a glance, "If there were threats aboard, we'd have been informed of such. We have yet heard no reports of holdouts of Klingon or Gorn raiding parties on the ship. Though, if you feel it necessary to arrive armed, I won't deny you your security. Wisdoms say, once you have a weapon, your problems look like targets."

Antos nodded at Penny in response to her earlier greeting even as he pondered what to do. Thankfully, it did not take him long to reach a conclusion. Out of deference to the mission commander and a glaring inconsistency for the away team, with one member of the lot wielding a phaser and the others not, Antos ultimately decided to surrender the weapon.

He handed it back to the specialist and followed the rest of the away team in walking over to the transporter pad.

Rei and the team arrived on the Alameda, and Rei wasted little time. The first person she'd look to would be the transport operator as they welcomed the three aboard. A nod from the rabbitess, and a soft smile, "Good welcome, and well received. Where could I find the current ranking member of the crew? We're here to assist in the investigation and would like to begin things proper."

Penny looked around. What would be her first task? Collect the sensor logs? Look over the science department? Maybe speak with some of the crew? The sensor logs would be her first stop. She would need to compare them with the Hornet’s once they were done here. Yes. The sensor logs first.

"Mrs McTaggart, if you would, collect the sensor logs from the Alameda's systems, internal and external. I'll need them compared to the lump collection of sensor data we receive from the other ships. I need a timeline of events." a pause, "Mr Antos, could you perhaps gather the logs of the Alameda's heading and course leading up to, and at the moment of, the time of the event? I'd like to know what the Alameda was doing the moment the nacelle was damaged."

Penny nodded in acknowledgement.

Antos nodded likewise.

"As for me, I'm heading to Engineering to begin decrypting that portion of the event. Find me there." and she turned to the junior officer that was there to receive them, "Lead on."

"Yes, Lieutenant. Ah...Engineering is kind of a mess right now, fair warning. But I think Astrometrics should be open for your team to work from for the other stuff. I can also have Lieutenant Sannah meet with you or them." The Ensign asked, "Nothing's making much sense."

"Well, we're here to offer assistance in making things make sense." Rei offered, "I understand things may be a bit... cluttered." she tried humor to lighten the mood a touch. She hadn't seen the possible casualty reports yet. "But I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty. Astrometrics will work as a staging ground for the reports and to recreate the timespan. If you'd be so kind, lead the way. This is your ship."

"Astrometrics seems like a good start," Antos replied. It would essentially offer him the same level of access to the ship's astrogation data and the navigational logs. He anticipated that once he collected that data, and if there was time, he could pay a visit to the Bridge to put the data collected in context.

"If it's all the same with you Lieutenant, I think I can find my way to Astrometrics with Lieutenant McTaggart." He clutched the padd in his hand which contained the schematics of the ship and other pertinent information he had been pouring over just shortly before transporting over.

“ Thank you. Please lead the way and let’s hope it’s not been to badly smashed about.” Penny replied looking at her tricorder.

"Ah...okay, suit yourself, sir." The Ensign replied, gesturing to the door, "And uh...this way to Engineering then, ma'am, unless you can find your way as well? I don't know, Lieutenant Sannah just said to meet you all here."

Rei gave a nod to the Ensign, "My people put a bit of weight on the Host / Guest relation, even in a situation like this. Please, lead the way. I'll probably be asking a lot of questions from here on out, so I do apologize in advance about that. This entire situation must have you pretty rattled, but I'll be the first to tell you, everything will work out in the end." she sounded calm. Reassuring. Not the calm that comes with rank, this was the calm that came with experience. This wasn't the first damaged ship she had stepped foot on.

"This way Lieutenant," Antos said to Penny as he led the pair out of the transporter room and towards the nearest turbolift. He took a moment to study the flurry of activity around him, which was a mixture of crewmates helping the injured getting to sickbay, engineering technicians fixing EPS relays that had malfunctioned or some other engineering ailment.
